Google Rents Goats To Replace Lawnmowers

In what absolutely reads like an April Fools joke, Google has a post on its blog today explaining how it has rented a herd of goats to replace the lawnmowers that normally cut the grass in the fields around its headquarters. This is Google’s “low-carbon” approach to maintaining its property.

Google is renting the goats from a company called California Grazing. Apparently, every so often a herder will bring about 200 of them to the campus and they’ll roam around for a week eating the grass. Not only that, these goats will fertilize the land at the same time — yes, that way.

Google claims the goats will cost about the same as lawn mowers would. And a border collie named Jen will be brought onto Google’s payroll to help with the herding as well, apparently. No word on how the maintenance workers who previously had this job feel about losing work to goats.

ABC's Shame

ABC runs a report showing the names and faces of two CIA contractors who may have had a role in the waterboarding of KSM and Abu Zubaydah. The network apparently outsourced this report to a freelancer named Matthew Cole, whose record in Nexis includes just three bylines -- two stories for Salon (one of which about "how Bush administration aid to Pakistan helps fund insurgents who kill U.S. troops"), and one for the San Jose Mercury News just two days after 9/11 reporting "anxiety about a backlash" among Muslims, who assure the reporter that the attack "has nothing to do with Islam."

Chopper Sex Pilot: Why Is Everyone Down on Me?

GARDENA, Calif. -- A commercial helicopter pilot is asking for forgiveness for taking part in some in-flight entertainment with a porn star in the skies over San Diego.
David Martz let adult film actress Puma Swede perform a sex act on him while he flew over San Diego, but he said at a National Transportation Safety Board administrative hearing that he has learned his lesson and won't do it again.

Martz testified Tuesday that his actions during the May 20, 2005, flight weren't bright and he's much more responsible now. He sought to rescind a Federal Aviation Administration order revoking his license.

An FAA attorney contended Martz actions were so reckless and irresponsible that it doesn't matter if he's changed.

After a three-hour hearing Tuesday, NTSB administrative law Judge William R. Mullins upheld a Federal Aviation Administration order revoking Martz's license. Mullins said Martz committed gross negligence and cannot have his license back.

A passenger videotaped the scene in the helicopter and an edited version later surfaced. Mullins viewed the unedited tape in chambers and ruled quickly.

Martz is known for ferrying celebrities like rocker/fellow sex-video star Tommy Lee. And in the infamous video obtained by TMZ, a topless Swede is seen on the tarmac at Montgomery Field in 2007. She can then be seen on the video inside the chopper alongside Martz, buzzing over crowded freeways and neighborhoods. Shortly afterward, she leaned over and performed a sex act on Martz.

Puma said it was a way to repay Martz for allowing the crew to use his chopper and hangar at Montgomery Field.

Martz had his pilot's license suspended and revoked twice previously for flying recklessly. He was also once investigated by the FAA for flying dangerously close to an Los Angeles police helicopter near Van Nuys airpor

SAGINAW, Mich. (March 26) - A man police caught performing a sex act with a car wash vacuum has been sentenced to 90 days in the Saginaw County Jail.
Jason Leroy Savage must also submit to drug testing.
The 29-year-old Swan Creek Township man was sentenced Wednesday in Saginaw County Circuit Court. Savage pleaded no contest to indecent exposure last month.
Police say Savage was arrested after a resident called officers early on Oct. 16 to report suspicious activity at a car wash in Thomas Township, about 90 miles northwest of Detroit.
Savage's attorney, Philip Sturtz, didn't immediately return a message seeking comment.
