Bride Beat Down at Her Wedding

HEBRON, Ind. (Jan. 29) - A woman who wasn't invited to her sister's wedding reception showed up anyway and attacked the bride, pulling out clumps of her hair, police said.
Annmarie Bricker, 23, of Valparaiso, was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of battery.eremy Glotzbach told police he was hosting a reception for newlyweds Nicholas Landry and Lori Kappes at his home on Jan. 23 when Bricker, Kappes' sister, attacked Kappes on the front porch.

Bricker pulled out clumps of Kappes' hair, struck her head and took the bride to the ground during a struggle, according to the Porter County Sheriff's Department.
Bricker told police she went to the house because she "just wanted to talk" to her sister and parents about family problems. She said she never touched her sister, but five witnesses contradicted her, authorities said. Kappes did not need medical treatment. Bricker later resigned from her job as a Porter County 911 dispatcher, officials said.

Body found in Detroit encased in ice

It took two days and three phone calls from a Detroit reporter, but city authorities eventually recovered a body frozen in ice in an elevator shaft at an abandoned building, The Detroit News reports.

Charlie LeDuff, the reporter, writes that a friend tipped him about a body "encased in ice, except his legs, which are sticking out like Popsicle sticks." After checking it out for himself, LeDuff called 911 -- three times. It wasn't until a day later that he heard from the fire department, which arranged to meet him at the site.

Capt. Emma McDonald, who was among those at the scene, told LeDuff: "Every time I think I've seen it all, I see this."

Man charged with driving with worker on car hood

SAN RAFAEL, Calif. — A man is facing assault charges after deputies said he hit a state transportation worker and continued driving several miles while the man clung to the hood of the car. Marin County prosecutors charged 73-year-old Peter Buchanan with assault with a deadly weapon, reckless driving and hit-and-run driving Wednesday.

Authorities say Buchanan, an attorney, was returning to his office on Dec. 27 when he drove through a line of cones in Mill Valley and hit David Ramsey, a member of a Caltrans crew.

To avoid getting run over, authorities say Ramsey jumped on the hood of the Mercedes. But Buchanan allegedly continued driving, heading north on Highway 101 at speeds of 40 mph.

Authorities said Ramsey was able to jump off after two drivers blocked Buchanan's car when it exited the highway. Ramsey was not hurt.
